Purchasing Specialist

The Purchasing Specialist role entails supporting the rapid growth of the rifle barrel manufacturing of Ballistic Advantage, LLC and the dynamic supply chain needs that the growth is driving.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Purchase materials in a timely manner and at the lowest cost
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Control purchasing department budgets
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
  • Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
  • Manage supply base and drive supplier performance
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or appropriate referrals
  • Serves as a liaison with vendors for the purpose of monitoring and consolidation of orders for better management of expenses
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Previous manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain / inventory planning or comparable planning/analytical role
  • 3+ years experience with direct contract negotiation and administration
  • 2+ years experience working with inventory planning and control in a manufacturing environment
  • Solid project management and cross functional team leadership
  • Proficiency with MS Office a must, strong Excel skills required
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail
  • Results oriented and self-motivated to drive the team to achieve company and individual goals
